Performance Characteristics of Oil-Immersed Inverted Current Transformers

1. Insulation and Weather‑Resistance Performance: Utilizes oil‑paper composite insulation, offering high dielectric strength and low partial discharge, suitable for 35 kV to 1000 kV high‑voltage applications. The fully sealed structure, combined with an expander that isolates air and moisture, ensures excellent resistance to humidity and oil degradation, enabling stable long‑term outdoor operation. The high‑strength porcelain bushing provides external insulation that is resistant to pollution flashover, UV radiation, and extreme temperature fluctuations, while performing reliably in rainy, snowy, windy, and sandy conditions.
2. Electrical Performance: High turns-ratio accuracy, low metering winding error, and excellent linearity, meeting the requirements for electrical energy measurement. The protection winding exhibits superior saturation characteristics, enabling accurate transformation of fault currents under short-circuit conditions and ensuring compatibility with relay protection schemes. It features low excitation current, strong load‑carrying capability, and a wide secondary‑load range. Operating temperature rise is low, with insulating oil circulation providing effective heat dissipation, and it demonstrates good overload capacity.
3. Excellent thermal and dynamic stability: It can withstand a short-time thermal current of 50–63 kA for 3 seconds, resists short-circuit surges, and is suitable for high-capacity systems.

5. It can be equipped with a transient‑protection winding, meeting the requirements of reclosing and fast‑acting protection. Wide‑temperature stability: operable from –45°C to +45°C; high‑vacuum drying followed by vacuum oil impregnation ensures insulation that resists aging.

Structural features

1. Inverted design: The primary winding is positioned below, while the secondary winding is above—opposite to the conventional upright configuration. The primary conductor passes vertically through the center of the secondary winding, resulting in high mechanical strength and excellent short-circuit withstand capability.
2. Fully enclosed assembly: Composed of an expander, oil conservator, tank body, high‑strength porcelain bushing, cast aluminum alloy base, and secondary terminal box, it features a compact structure.
3. Oil-paper capacitive main insulation: a composite insulation consisting of insulating oil and cable paper, featuring low dielectric loss (≤0.3%), minimal partial discharge, and a long insulation life.
4. Multi‑terminal electric field optimization: The inner casing features a multi‑shielding structure, ensuring uniform electric field distribution, reducing partial discharge, and enhancing operational reliability.
