Shandong Taikai Instrument Transformer Co., Ltd.: First Batch of 1000 kV Tank-Type CVTs for Datong Station Successfully Passes All Full-Item Tests in a Single Attempt
Release date:
2026-07-14
On July 13, 2026, the first three units (the first batch) of 1000 kV tank-type capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs) under the Datong Station contract completed full production and factory acceptance tests. The entire testing process was witnessed on-site by experts and leadership representatives from China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI), Shanxi Electric Power Research Institute and Xi'an Xidian Group. All performance indicators of the products met the required standards, and all tests were passed in a single attempt, laying a solid foundation for the on-schedule delivery of the Datong Ultra-High Voltage (UHV) project.

In April this year, the company held the kick-off meeting for mass production of 1000 kV tank-type CVTs, an initiative that marks an industry first. Experts from relevant affiliates of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and leading mainstream main equipment manufacturers in the industry jointly witnessed the product’s official entry into the mass production phase. The whole production process of this contract strictly complies with the management and control requirements of all owner units. All core components have gone through extended manufacturing supervision, supporting type tests and special entrusted tests in line with the highest industry standards, consolidating the quality foundation from the source. Relying on its Class 100,000 clean assembly workshop and full-chain closed-loop quality management system, the company strictly implements the production control, supervision and inspection requirements put forward by all parties, coordinates cross-department collaboration to push forward the Datong Station order, and completes the whole process of component processing and final assembly for the first three units to high standards, realizing a closed loop of full-process quality control.

This round of tests strictly follows the highest standards for UHV equipment, covering all key assessment items including power frequency withstand voltage test, partial discharge measurement, ferroresonance test, lightning impulse test, accuracy test, as well as capacitance and dielectric loss measurement, comprehensively simulating extreme operating conditions for long-term equipment operation. The expert witness team supervised the entire process on site, verifying test data item by item and monitoring equipment operating status. After comprehensive inspection, core parameters of the three units, including insulation level stability, error accuracy and anti-ferroresonance performance, all outperform the requirements of national standards and the project technical agreement. The one-time full pass of all tests fully validates the company’s mature product design, precision manufacturing processes and robust quality assurance system.Attending experts spoke highly of the test results. They noted that 1000 kV tank-type CVTs are core metering and protection equipment for UHV substations, which are directly related to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. The one-time pass of the full set of witnessed tests for the first mass-produced batch demonstrates Taikai Instrument Transformer’s strong UHV equipment manufacturing strength and rigorous quality management capabilities. They also expressed the hope that the enterprise will continue to uphold quality standards and steadily advance subsequent mass production and delivery.
